The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is improving the application processing time tool effective May 22, 2024, to enhance Canada’s immigration system. This tool aims to assist Canadian immigration applicants in predicting how long it will take to receive a final response to their immigration application. The estimated processing time tool is now available for the following programs:
- Canadian Experience Class (Express Entry)
- Provincial Nominee Program (Express Entry and Non-Express Entry)
- Federal Skilled Workers
- Quebec Skilled Workers
- Certificate of Citizenship
- Spouse or common-law partner is in Canada
- Spouse or common-law partner lives outside of Canada
- Parents or Grandparents
Processing Time Estimation Tool: This tool estimates how long applicants for immigration to Canada should expect to wait for their applications to be processed and for a final response regarding their request. For other types of immigration cases not listed above, IRCC continues to utilize this tool. Processing times are calculated based on the duration it took IRCC to process 80% of cases over the past six months for permanent residency and 8 to 16 weeks for temporary residency, providing immigration applicants to Canada with a clearer, more pleasant, and predictable experience!
Please note that if you have previously applied and are awaiting your application’s processing, this tool may show estimates that are shorter than the time you have already waited. This tool reflects the expected waiting time for someone submitting a new application today from the end of the queue, as various unforeseen factors can affect processing times.
If you have applied previously, you are closer to the front of the queue. Applications continue to be processed in the order they are received, and in most cases, you will not have to wait longer than the announced processing time for a final decision!
